Puglia, Southern Italy - a food and wine lovers paradise
The heel of Italy or Puglia as it's known is a long narrow peninsula bordering the Adriatic and the Ionion Seas. With fertile land and flanked either side by water this region produces more wine and olive oil than any other region in Italy. Fresh, organic produce, fruit, vegetables, fresh fish and seafood are in abundance in the area alongwith locally produced wines - a food and winelovers paradise.
Bathed in sunshine for most of the year the climate is typically Mediterranean with warm breezes that sweep across this ancient landscape with its endless olive groves, sandy beaches lapped by clean waters of the Adriatic and Ionion seas and a wealth of history and well preserved buildings displaying some of the finest examples of Medieval and Baroque architecture.
